- No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. But somehow, this faux pas was made, as the word 'Buangkok' is misspelt on this map.

And the STOMPer who sent in this picture was amused.

She told STOMP she had gone down to the Sengkang HDB Branch Office on Monday Oct 6, and was unsure of her way as she was new to the neighbourhood.

The contributor alighted at the Kangkar LRT Station, and went to a map mounted on a wall in the station to get her bearings, and it was then that the misspelling was spotted.

"While I always crack the stupid joke that I live in Bangkok, but with a 'U', I didn't expect someone to actually misspell the word to this extent," she says. -

a small mistake only, kicked up a big fuss.just report that matter will do.

- STOMPer Ajay sent in a picture of this brightly-coloured snake resting atop a tree.

This long, green snake is well camouflaged by the leaves which makes it rather difficult to spot.

This STOMPer says:

"I snapped a picture of a beautiful green snake on Sunday, 5 October at Norfolk Road.

"The snake was relaxing and seemed undisturbed by the traffic." -

ok,so?

- STOMPer Soh feels that these ladies are very inconsiderate by strolling and happily chit-chatting along the walkway, hindering people behind from passing them.

In an email to STOMP today (8 Oct), the unhappy STOMPer says:

“The government has been putting up signs to remind Singaporean to keep to our right-hand side when we are walking up the stairs, standing on escalators etc.

“It doesn't seem to be effective.

“These three ladies are strolling and happily chit-chatting along the way. People behind them rushing to work can't even cut over. They are blocking the walkway, therefore those people behind them have no choice but to follow their pace.

“Do we need to sit down and teach them how to be a considerate person?” -

hai, cant the stomper just fucking say "excuse me"?
"signs to remind Singaporean to keep to our right-hand side when we're..."

- Despite being told that her pic would be posted on STOMP, this lady still refused to give up her seat to a pregnant lady.

In an email to STOMP yesterday (8 Oct), the unimpressed STOMPer who came across this inconsiderate act says:

“With the emphasis on making Singapore a gracious society recently, it is quite sad to see the many posts on STOMP concerning ‘ugly commuters’.

“Unfortunately, I have another one to add to that growing list. This woman was seated at the priority seat with an obviously pregnant lady standing not far away from her.

“Even when my sister and I loudly suggested taking a photo and posting it on STOMP, she refused to give up her seat to the pregnant lady.

“Photo of her is as attached. Hope it can be posted to serve as a deterrent.” -

you threatened her that her pic will be posted on stomp, but she still refuses to offer her seat to the pregnant lady, dont u think u fucking failed?

- STOMPer Alex says these policemen who were seen at the scene of an accident, did not act efficiently as they seemed unsure of what to do.

This STOMPer says:

"An accident happened at the junction of Serangoon Garden Way and Yio Chu Kang Road.

"These policemen were standing beside their car watching the parties resolve the issue by themselves and maybe checking on which of the three roads leading to the accident spot had the longest traffic jam.

"Cannot imagine if the accident was of a greater magnitude and they waited for instructions as to what they should do.

"In the case of this accident, they could have at least re-directed the traffic." -

how did he know that the policemen were unsure of what to do?since he knows what to do,why not he be the policeman instead?kiang jiu ho mai kay kiang.

- The National Library Board clarifies and explains its stance in prohibiting food and drinks in its library, as it fears an allowance of this would damage the books.

This was in response to a STOMP posting on Sep 1, where a STOMPer was upset that a security guard had stopped him from bringing in his green tea to the library.
In its email response, the NLB says:

"We cannot allow food and drinks anywhere in the reading areas of the Public Libraries.

"This prohibition is necessary to prevent library materials from being stained by food and drink spills.

"In the case of the Jurong Regional Library, we would like to clarify that an exception is made for the Verging All Teens (VAT) section on Level 4.

"Only snacks and drinks bought from the vending machines located at VAT section can be consumed within this section, and outside food & drinks are not allowed.

"This is an experiment to engage and reach out to the teens; an idea which we obtained from overseas libraries.

"So far, this is the only service of this nature in the Public Library system. " -

he was just fucking doing his job,why must u fucking give him troubles?food and drinks are not allowed in the library, even a kid would know that.

- STOMPer Connie is so annoyed with the noisy birds that appear at her flat’s surroundings.

In an email to STOMP today (14 Oct), the annoyed STOMPer says:

“These birds at Jurong West Ave 5 are a nuisance. They appear at my flat’s surroundings in the morning and in the evening at about 6.46pm.

“The birds make so much noise and their droppings are everywhere. It is very irritating and disturbing.

“I was referred by NEA to Hong Kah Town Council but Hong Kah Town Council claimed that the trees along the main road belong to NParks.

“To date, I have yet to receive any feedback from NParks. It has been a month and a half since my mail to NEA.” -

- STOMPer Cho Choon said that the notice in an SBS bus about using hammer to break the glass windows in emergencies, is different in the four official languages.

In the email which was sent to STOMP today (Oct 14), the STOMPer wrote:

“These two pictures were taken inside an SBS Transit bus( Service No 100) that plies between Serangoon Interchange and Ghim Moh Terrace.

“The notice is written our four official languages but the English and Chinese messages do not mean the same thing.

“The English message says: ‘Use hammer to break window glass’.

“The Chinese message says: ‘jin3 ji2 shi2, shi3 yong4 tie3 chui2 qiao1 po4 bo1 li2 chuang1’ (literally: In case of emergency, use the hammer to break the glass window).

“For the sake of brevity the English message looks rather absurd. Is the commuter to break the glass under any circumstances?

“The Chinese message is more precise and to the point. The hammer is to be used only in an emergency. -
